Service Scholarships ($1,500)
Award Cycle: Winter
Each year we honor four key figures in Sigma Kappa Delta’s history as well as the excellent students who win these awards. Calhoun College professor Dr. Sheila Byrd served as Executive Director for 22 years, during which time the Society nearly tripled in size. Dr. Don Perkins co-founded SKD as Advisor to the Alpha Chapter at Cottey College and served as the Society’s first Executive Director. Fellow co-founder Dr. Susan LeJeune advised the Louisiana State University at Eunice chapter and served as the Society’s first President. 2021 Outstanding Chapter Advisor Professor Joan S. Reeves of Northeast Alabama Community College served multiple terms as Society President and led the effort to reintegrate SKD into English Honor Societies in 2024-25. These four service scholarships go to SKD members who are actively involved in their chapter during the academic year of award.
